On April 19, 2008 we mobilized over 400 people to serve our City by doing intentional deeds of kindness. We did this simply to demonstrate God’s heart of love to our city, no strings attached. Serve Tucson sponsored the following projects which were TOTALLY FREE to those who received it.

Guinea Pig

Group around the table Assisted Living

Teams of 4 to 12 people went to local assisted living centers. Each location was pre-arranged by the project manager. They visited and cheered up seniors by talking, helping, sometimes bringing babies and puppies. This activity was very appreciated by the seniors.

Bottle Water

A team of 12 people adopted an intersection with large islands by the center left turn lane. Two people with cool water headed out on the islands to pass out water and a contact card to thirsty drivers while they are waiting to turn left. The other team members ran water to the islands as the supply is exhausted. Most intersections gave away about 800 bottles of water in an hour and fifteen minutes.

Dark Hershey Kisses

Bowl of Hershey Kisses

Business Thank you

Teams of 2 to 4 people headed out to malls and shopping centers carrying grocery bags of Hershey Kisses. The team entered the business finding the key employee(s) scoop out a bowl of Kisses as they say, “Today is a day of kindness. This is just our way of saying ‘Thanks for serving our City and remind you that God loves you - no strings attached.’” Smiled and headed for the next business.

Car WashStick Figure

Totally free car washes at up to 12 pre-arranged locations. A few people, who were not shy, cheerfully enticed passing motorists to take advantage of our “Totally Free Car Wash!” Energetic people washed cars while someone gave the motorist a free bottle of water, a contact card and answered any questions they had. We had a few teams that washed over 40 cars in an hour and a half.

Teams of 4 to 12 went to local parks with a cooler(s) full of frozen Otter Pops. They simply walked around offering “Totally Free Otter Pops”. When asked, “What’s the catch”, they simply replied,”It’s just our way of saying God loves you - no strings attached.” Offered a contact card if we could be of more help. This was a great activity with families of small children.

Teams equipped with buckets, squeegees and Squeegee Shine, head to St Joseph to wash windshields in the parking lot. They began with the employee parking.
